Jason Brown
Jason Brown attended Miraleste and Peninsula High Schools. He played football, basketball, and baseball through his junior year at Miraleste (1991). Then was in the first graduating class at Peninsula High School (1992) where he played football and baseball, earning All Bay League Honors in both sports.
Following his junior year, he was a member of the Dodgers “Team 213” in the 1991 Area Code Games and played for the Mary Star Connie Mack team at Blair Field that same summer. Following his senior season, was selected to the South Bay All Area baseball team and played in the South Bay All Star Game (1992).
After graduating from Peninsula High School, he went on to attend USC (1993-1997). After redshirting, Jason played 4 seasons for Coach Mike Gillespie and the Trojans (1994-1997). He was part of 2 PAC-10 Championship teams and the College World Series runner up in 1995. In
his senior season, he led the Trojans with a .368 batting average while hitting 10 HR with 45 RBI. That year Jason was All PAC-10 Honorable Mention and was the recipient of the Pete Redfern Award given to the “The Ballplayer’s Ballplayer” for most hustle and spirit. During his
time at USC Jason played 2 summers for the Fairbanks Gold Panners of the Alaskan Summer League (Summers of 1995 and 1996).
Jason originally signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers as a non-drafted free agent in 1997 and went on to play with the Tampa Bay Rays, Florida Marlins, Pittsburgh Pirates, Montreal Expos, and New York Yankees over 12 minor league seasons (1997-2008).
He began coaching at Palos Verdes High School in 2009. Was an assistant coach at USC in 2012. He coached 6 summers for the Orleans Firebirds in the Cape Cod Summer League from 2009-2014.
Jason returned to professional baseball in 2015 with the New York Yankees. In 2015 and 2016 he served as the bullpen coach and catching coach with the Yankees Triple A team in Scranton/Wilkes Barre, PA (International League). In 2017 Jason joined the Yankees Major League staff as bullpen catcher and catching coach for the 2017-2019 seasons.
Since 2020 he has been with the Los Angeles Angels as a bullpen catcher and staff assistant. Notably throwing to Shohei Ohtani in the 2021 Home Run Derby at Coors Field.
